These terms govern your use of Papers AI, a scientific editor developed by Digital Science & Research Solutions Inc. (“Digital Science”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By using Papers AI, you agree to these terms.
1. The Service
Papers AI is a web-based scientific editor that supports authoring, editing, and collaborating on scientific documents. The service is provided “as is” and may be updated, modified, or discontinued at our discretion.
2. Accounts
You may use Papers AI anonymously with limited features or create an account for full access. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account or use another person's account without permission.
3. Your Content
You own your content. Documents, files, and any other content you create in Papers AI remain your intellectual property. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content.
By using collaboration features, you grant us a limited license to transmit and temporarily store your content solely for the purpose of enabling real-time collaboration.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Papers AI for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data
- Interfere with or disrupt the service
- Circumvent usage quotas or rate limits
- Use automated tools to access the service without our permission
5. Usage Quotas
Papers AI offers different usage tiers (anonymous, free, premium, business) with varying quotas for AI-assisted features. Quotas reset periodically. We reserve the right to modify quota limits with reasonable notice.
6. AI Features
Papers AI includes AI-powered features for writing assistance. AI-generated content is provided for your consideration and should be reviewed before use. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated suggestions.
7. Availability
We strive to keep Papers AI available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or due to circumstances beyond our control.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Digital Science shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Papers AI, including loss of data or documents. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
You may stop using Papers AI at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases, but provisions regarding content ownership and limitation of liability survive.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the application. Continued use of Papers AI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, excluding its conflicts of law rules, and the United States of America. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms shall be finally settled by arbitration in Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
